Yes, I started the program this past Wednesday (3/14) and I weighed in today (I want Monday to be my weigh-in day for various reasons) and have lost 15.4 lbs!

Now I am not stupid or inexperienced, and I know that I was extremely bloated on Wednesday after a long weekend of lots of sodium and alcohol, so I know probably about 10 lbs of that was water, etc, but, still, it is pretty cool! I am certainly sold! But, no, I will not expect to lose an average of 3+ lbs a day, nor even the 1 lb a day, if you exclude the water weight. Like I said, I'm not new to this weight loss thing (I can't imagine there are many people over 300 lbs who are).

One thing I have noticed in the 5 days so far, is that I am so much less preoccupied with food than I was when I was "following" Weight Watchers, for instance. That has always bothered me about WW and other diets, that you become more obsessed with food, which seems like exactly what you shouldn't be doing.

Anyway - just had to share that #. Off to make some oatmeal!

Congrats! :) You probably can expect fairly fast weight loss for a while, given your starting point. That will be a big reinforcement! Things will taper off as you get closer to your goal.

Keep up the great work!

How exciting!! You are almost out of the 300s!!! I am so happy for you. I have been working at this for almost a year and I hope to get out of the 200s in the next month or two.

Oh, thanks, everyone! I wasn't on here all day - I took myself to the movies, and snuck in a back of sugar snap peas and and apple. Perfect crunchy movie food!

Congrats to you, and welcome to the world of "sneaking food into the movies!" I still feel illicit with my little bag of little potatoes, tomatoes and carrots! I expect an usher to come up with his flashlight and kick us out! (So does my DH!)

I would fall over in a dead faint if that happened! Good for you! Your progress is so encouraging.

I know what you mean about WW, I am a life time member and have had good luck in the past with the program. However I spend every moment of my day thinking about food, counting points looking for food that I eat a bunch of with few points, most of which were unhealthy. Mixing up things like Splenda and FF/SF cool whip and canned fruit. Recipes like that are passed around at the meetings.

I also always had issues with being a vegan, my leader had no idea how to answer my questions and would tell me that out of the hundreds of women I was only one she had ever had and just look at me funny.

I finally desided that I just didn't want to spend the rest of my life with a food calculator in my purse and the diet feeding my food obsessions.

Congrats!! I think that is so true about WW. I got side tracked when I started lifting heavy weights and I began counting calories and adding in more protein. I hate it, I feel like I am thinking about food all the time. I remember before, I just ate Mcdougall and didn't worry about counting every little calorie and I lost weight. I wasnn't obsessing about my food. Now I am. I am struggling trying to get back to where I once was.
