BeansNRice,

My partner and I both stopped coffee. First couple of days headache was worst part, but quickly over. During the time we were successful, we drank hot herbal tea, and lemon or lime flavored water. I find just drinking plenty of liquid helps.

Disclosure: Drinking 1 cup, black. Which is big improvement from 2-3 coffee per day.

Agree with you on total abstention, to detox and get over addiction and adjust taste preference.

Hi Micheal! Yeah still at my 1 small cup per day. Seems to be doing the trick!

B- oats & blueberries, banana, small cup of coffee
L- large salad w/romaine, cuc, carrots and 1/2 avo w/ of sesame Thai dressing, 1 piece of sprouted grain bread with honey
D- yves ground round w/chili powder, lettuce and salsa on a whole wheat wrap, small glass of red wine

E- * edit 1 hour and 15 mins of walking :-)

Will take BP tonight and record here later. Have to take it a.m. and p.m. now for 5 weeks. Dr suggested I eat a more protein and have 1 small glass of red wine per night. She asked if i had read for forks over knives, and said she is a vegetarian. She said don't fill up on the white carbs. As per Dr, I don't mind adding a little protein and see what happens. (More beans and a little tofu)

Hi BeansNRice-- I Love that your doctor is a vegetarian... and has asked you about Forks over Knives too. You are doing so good. Bp is my hurdle for me. Yours sound great to me. I am wondering why you are taking it, it is so nice and low sounding to me anyway.
Good luck!!

Thank you carollynne! Yes I didnt even know she was veggie until the other day! I wore a 24 hour BP monitor and it showed my daily BP as averaging 145/95 approx and my nightly one 133/78, she says the night one worries her as bp should drop while we sleep. It will be tough to prove my daytime BP has dropped as I dont take it while working... maybe I should.... :) the only thing I dont like is her suggestions about more protein, and red wine every night. Don't get me wrong, I do like a glass of red wine, but I am not sure its of real benefit.

Ate too much at lunch today... small dinner tonight!

B- oats and blueberries, small cup coffee
L- footlong subway veggie sub on ww, no cheese, no mayo or dressing other than honey mustard (way too full from this - shouldve stopped at 6"!)
D - *edit, leftover veg stew, piece of foccacia bread, no wine
S- 100 Cal Choc bar  I don't know what came over me...I was standing in line at the grocery store and had to have it...

Yesterday I had wayyy too much sodium and am bloated today to show for it...!
E: 45 mins so far

Beans and rice.....I would make sure the green tea is not caffeinated....as for your anxiety...I hope you can learn to just listen to the triggers and not get all caught up in the response you are feeling..learn to "watch" them...the power of now was a great tool for me.....

Hi Giddyupgin, thank you for your comment. I do know my triggers but sometimes they are unavoidable i.e. a meeting at work..I have to stop believing everything that I think! Usually about 30 mins before the meeting I work myself up into a panic... not fun...

I cut out caffeine once for a whole year, nothing changed. I added it back in, it didnt get worse. It only seems to get better on meds (which I have been off of for 2 years now) or if I exercise a lot. If hub and I are going out to meet friends, I usually have a glass of wine first before we go, to ease my nerves. I have always been super shy and a nervous person, but since about 22ish I have had bad anxiety off and on, and panic attacks.

I am down to 1 cup of coffee/day and it seems to be OK if I stick to that amount. The odd day I will also have green tea, but that doesn't seem to affect me. :-)
