Tonite I made a fresh roma tomato sauce with chopped up skinned romas, garlic and some basil from the garden with whole wheat spaghetti. Dinner figured out!! We have no vampires in this house! Thankfully Ed likes garlic!!!
That sounds like heaven. If winter would ever leave, I might try basil in the garden. We have such a late growing season here, so when everyone else is winterizing their gardens, I'll still be getting veggies from mine. I have never tried herbs though. I have seeds for lettuces and spinach but I havent tried them yet. I may need to buy some plants and see how I do. Will basil keep giving me basil or do I have to replant it as I go?
I plant some plants in the beginnning of the season and it lasts forever ...but we are in Az. It seems to bolt into flowerheads in this heat. I cut it back yesterday and it seems to be fine! I got a couple of tomato plants that I paid .50 apiece for and those are doing good, planted some roma tomatoes from seed and so far I have two tomatoes. I also planted a Big Boy and the plant looks good but that takes much longer but it is big with all kinds of blooms so we will see what happens!! So far it is doing good. i have chives, rosemary, mexican oregano and dill growing but the dill has to be harvested soon since it is bolting and an entire pot of parsley that I probably should have thinned out more but it looks healthy!!!!

Also have some swiss chard, kale, etc growing but it is over 110 right now so who knows???
