6am :D Good Morning...yesterday got up to 80 degrees but the wind was gusting up to 50mph.
The daffodils are so pretty.
Got a pot of black eyed peas with frozen veggies cooking. My first with frozen black eyed peas. I'm about to give up on canned and dry beans.
Nuked a potato for DD break snack...and packed a hunk of bread and pieces of fresh pineapple for GD. Suddenly she's worried about her skin with her first school dance in a week. Switched from chocolate chip cookies to peanut butter chips

Oh, how cute and typical! PB chips!

Really? 80 degrees? I never see 80!!! We are still waking to 30!

Why are you switching to frozen legumes? Less salt and just as quick as canned, or some other reason?

I'm switching to frozen because it's hard to find no salt added to the canned; however, I have ordered from Amazon: Eden no salt added beans. Hope I like them...2 cases of 12, one navy and one red. I bought the local store brand kidney no salt and it was nasty...I couldn't eat it all and I can eat anything. The frozen black eyed peas I mentioned above were good...I might try cooking some from dry. I also ordered 2 cases of 12 of the Eden no salt tomatoes, one with onion and one with basil. The local store carries some Eden produce but it's cheaper for me from Amazon with a subscription. We'll see :-)
ps this is a first for me...using the quote  68 and I'm still learning ;-) Also, a cold front came through and temp dropped to 50 with high winds.

Congrats on the 30 lb loss!! it is great to have your DD doing this along with you. My 2 vegan sons are still vegan, but they can and do eat a lot of high fat vegan foods. I am doing a lot better. at 190, it is amazing to me that I have stuck with this so long. I just want to lose wt and get off those HBP pills will it ever happen?
Hey we just got the Wii and the fit tape too. Can't wait to try it out.
will do this!!

carollynne :-D thanks so much for the kind thoughts...
Well, today I feel that I'm official...my Amazon order of Eden beans and tomatoes arrived and I made one of Jeff's SNAP meals...all in 10 minutes.
One can tomato with basil
One can Navy beans
1lb frozen mix carrots, beans, corn
1/4 cup frozen mustard greens
one package of Success brown rice.
DD loved it. and all with no added salt.
I got the subscription price from Amazon and it wasn't much different than at the local, if I could get it, which I can't get the variety that Amazon offers.
DD has lost 30lbs and has been eating mostly potatoes the last few days. and she's looking good. I'm so pround of her. 8)

Wow that sounds so great!! I love a good loss story. My sincere contrats to you both. My youngest son and oldest son are both vegans too. But they can eat a bit of the high fat stuff. Tonight I boiled up some quartered golden yokon potatoes, and the only flavoring was a good coating of plain mustard, and letting the heat do the job in the pot. Chris loved them. I did too.
I Love the concept of the SNAP meals, and altho I am not sure what it is, I do that sort of thing a lot, and just have brown or white rice always made, and plenty of frozen and fresh veggies ready too. Cool.
Let the eating of potatoes go on and never stop!

 4AM What a great tool this site is...as someone else noted...open 24/7. My spiritual journy has lead me here...AA taught me to pray for wisdom and I did regarding diet and money management. How neat to see it all fall into place. AA also taught me to keep it simple. And keep it simple is also mentioned on other threads. When my diet is simple, I loose weight and save money.

Apprehension: I am anxious about my doctor's appointment tomorrow. I need a wart removed from my heel. I've been treating it but it is painful and I don't think I have a choice. Will he be upset that I didn't return in January following my lab work? I plan to go armed with my blood pressure readings...they are within normal limits on my machine. He had wanted to take me off 2 generic drugs, low doses that I had been taking for years....and, instead, place me on a new drug which required lab work for possible liver damage. Ya, right  I did fill the Rx but didn't take it. Bought a new BP cuff and began taking my own BP. After about a week, I tossed all my meds. Haven't regreated it. He may want to repeat the labs which is fine, except that the previous visit left me with a $92 balance. :duh: What to do. Not to mention the fact that he requires two visits for wart removal...the first just to assess (I guess so that he knows how much time to schedule for actual removal). And all this wouldn't be a problem, but I tend to get excited and aggetated....and, of course, I project the worse case. My health is much better on this diet, except for my teeth and gums...for sure I don't have money for dental work. Oh, well....Let go, Let G-d. :-) :-) :-)

Hi Gypsy- I love how it says we posted at 1:30 something am! It's actually 5:30 am something for me!

Good work on your food plan. I just wanted to say that I feel for you in regards to what you wrote about your apprehension about the doctor's appointment. We often face similar situations in my family. I'm working on the Let Go, Let my higher power deal too...

Good luck tomorrow.

Gypsy, I hope things went well with the doctor today. Hopefully he will be pleased at your weight loss, at least! Let us know. Sometimes worry is just a way of keeping things too close--and as you were saying, let go, let God! I'm pulling for you!

Gypsy, Hello again, let us all know how your doctor appt went with everything, esp, the wart, and the wt and the HBP issue. I feel for you about the new pills. I think it is terrific that you are doing so well and without even taking the 2 generic ones that you were on and the numbers stay down!! Way cool---- that is success if ever I heard of one.
I wish, I wish it was that with me too. I am working on the HBP issue and need to lose, a hard task to do. Slow but sure wins the race.....
I asked for a beta blocker, a switch from my calcium channel blocker, and the numbers were too high, like the 150s over 90s almost and that was in the morning, and it was a sustained release pill. so let us know how it all went with dear doctor of traditional medicine...
have a good day :-D

:D Saw the doc today and presented him with my documentation of b/p readings. He high fived me and said I had cured my own hypertension. :-P He was pleased that I had lost 30lbs and plan on another 70. and he was surprised that I wasn't taking any medication and felt great! He was concerned with my lab reports of 3 months ago(I had never gone back) regarding the fatty liver results. I agreed to repeat the necessary lab work today. I will return on the 18th for removal of the wart on my foot (I'm hoping to cure it myself by then) and to learn the results of the new lab. Fatty liver can be the result of obsity, so I'm sure after 3 months, that it will be resolved. Anyway, the doc couldn't stop smiling and said I had really made his day...that this just never happens. :D :D :D

So thanks to all you good people who wished me well. Your encouragement is greatly appreciated. There's a new pot of SNAP simmering on the stove and I've ordered a pressure cooker from Amazon. Baruch HaShem :) Shabbat Shalom.

Dear Gyspy, yes Shabbat Shalom to you as well.
I love it that you have cured y our hypertenison. That is what I am after too. I keep checking my BP at home and so far I still need the pill.
I had the beginnings of the fatty liver syndrome too, but when I gave up all animal products and the liver enzymes came way down and have stayed down too. Next I want all of my numbers to be way low. Wouldn't that be so cool?
You have one terrific doctor is he can high five you and be so supportive like he really and honestly cares.
I don't know about your hospital area but here, I always go and pick up my own lab reports to see what they say and I can do that. I mean I cannot wait til. Sometimes a doctor signature has to be on it, so it may take longer. But it should be no problem if you can try do that since they are your reports you have the legal right to see them and not have to wait upon the doctor office visit.
I could not wait til my next office co -pay I like to know right away.
Again, congratulation.

Gypsy, that is so wonderful! You can do this all the way--you have got the right idea! When I saw my doc for the first time in over a year (this Feb.), she was so pleased, and wished all her patients would do this! (I had lost 75 pounds at that point) And your wart may go away, or it may not--I don't think they are all that influenced by the foods we eat ( :?:  ), but that doesn't mean our bodies don't have the wisdom to deal with them.

You just have got this going!
