Juibilee and Merriweather have recently posted. Anyone else here???

May Father bless our prayer connections and our efforts to live for Him and practice McDougalling in the year of the rabbit. The lunar new year begins on February 3...and I am a rabbit!

Thanks for those who prayed for the travelers. I spent two nights in NJ related to the blizzard and I am grateful for safety. What a winter!

I am working on mastering microwave cooking in the USA! Ha ha! It seems that 10 minutes is about right for a big baked potato. You get the idea. I am keeping it simple!

Let us look up and hold each other up to Father!!!

1 Corinthians 3: 16-17
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

--------------------------

Just thought I'd post the verses that I'm pondering today since it's relevant to how I eat. May they be a blessing to someone else, as well.

And may you all be blessed this week with health, and strength, and the love of Christ flowing through you to others.

In Christ,
Jubilee

Greetings from white TN!

What is the most difficult part about McDougalling? What is the most difficult part of following Jesus?

Romans 12.1-2

Dear Father, help us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Make us the living sacrifices You want us to be. I ask this in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

Good call, Pinkrose! Those are the other verses that I'm focusing on. :-) Thank you for the prayer.

Enjoy your time in the U.S.

Wish I were there in Tenn to meet you. 2/3 of my children are there. Well, one is in Iraq. But his wife and kids are there.
This has been a very snowy winter there this year. And the road crews do not have the training or equipment to handle it.
I have to believe there are angles watching them. Both sets were about to head out for appts. today, but were warned just intime, so they did not get out on the roads. But a lot of people slid around a lot.
I am so grateful for the protection they are receiveing.
Enjoy your visit. I am sure you will be able to eat your regular simple diet just fine.
When I visited, I got some nice potatoes, some really nice frozen veggies. Did eat some grits--I cooked my own so not fat.
Any way I lost weight while visiting. I am sure you will be able to maintain.

Thanks for your sweet posts, friends!

Merriweather, I am doing OK here eating about the same way I do in China. However, it is quite cold and white here in TN. I hope we can travel around safely today. I would love to meet you too!

It is good to think about the angels and when others speak of luck we can say we are very richly blessed!

You can see two photos of me in TN with family members at our photo link. I think you will recognize Mom and pinkrose! Ha ha! :-D

Hey, Pinkrose.

There's a post going on that's right up your alley. :-)

If you see this, please go to the Lounge, click on the thread about "I started a food blog" (or something like that), and then VeggieSue's post on that thread. She has a card to explain what a vegan wants to order at a Chinese Restaurant. I thought maybe you could add to that thread since I assume that you read Chinese. Could you also make a card that says, "No oil"?

Blessings,
Kt

Ha ha! Thanks, Jubilee! I read a lot of Chinese but it is not restaurant Chinese since we eat at home. However, I recently went to a P. F. Chang and ordered something with Buddha in the name--steamed veggies, tofu and brown rice. I think Jeff Novick said that was the only item on the menu he could recommend. The food was OK but if you are really hungry you may need an extra bowl or two of rice.

I am preparing to return to the Middle Kingdom and would appreciate your prayers for the travelers. I have seen enough snow!

Look up and thank Father for His great love! Happy Valentine's Day to all lovers!!! :-D

Anyone know of a good devotional or book on the Biblical spiritual aspects of dieting and eating healthy? Obviously, I'm not looking for a diet book- I know the healthiest way to eat already. Just some daily spiritual thoughts on the subject. Does this exist??

Blessings,
Jubilee

Maybe you will write such a book, Jubilee!

Thanks for praying for the travelers! I am grateful for a safe, uneventful trip back home in only 27 hours and for a wonderful vacation in the USA!

I was glad to have my dried sweet potato strips since I spent two nights in NJ related to a blizzard and also ate them in Shanghai for dinner yesterday. Planning what to eat when you are away from home is a challenge to many of us but my vacation was about like my days here in regard to diet. Today we need to go out and buy fresh veggies and brown rice.

Thought for today:

My body and whatever health I enjoy are gifts from God. Will I squander these gifts or use them for His glory?

"19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." (1 Corinthians 6, NIV)

Do you like plain food?

If someone provided a diet of plain, nutritious food for you, would you gladly accept it or would you complain and demand something tasty?

I ask this question since it relates to the children of Israel, the manna and their desires for something more interesting (Numbers 11). When we read this chapter, perhaps we will conclude that our ideas about what constitutes a satisfactory diet are usually based on our personal histories and culture (whether in Eyypt, the USA or China)--not based on science.

So when you McDougall, if you think the plain foods are not exciting enough...just ask yourself if they are nutritious...and be grateful. Do not be a wailer!

Let us look up to the One who feeds us!

I started a new journal in the journals forum.

Do I like plain food, Pink? When I think of plain food, I think of plain rice, or potatoes. Is that what you mean? Well, if I were honest, I'd probably be right there complaining with the others, longing for the leeks and onions along the Nile. I'm trying to learn to be grateful for what I have, and not craving the "tastier, better" fare that I must avoid. Victory includes reaching the point where I don't look at unhealthy food as tastier, or better. My head knows it's not, but my appetites aren't re-trained yet. Gratefulness is a big part of that viewpoint too. Thanks for the comparison to the manna story. You're right, of course.

And, thankfully, we CAN have a lot of very tasty foods on the McD plan, including lots of leeks and onions! I had some pretty tasty things today, in fact, and for them I can definitely be thankful. :-)

We have a church fellowship with a meal tomorrow night, and I've already decided that it won't be good for me to be there, so I'll just leave after the service. I'm still struggling and I don't want to be faced with tables full of non-McDougall temptations. Hopefully, soon I'll get past the desire for those things, and can once again enjoy the fellowship time. For now, I'm staying away. I'm also avoiding the food channel, and the grocery store at this point. :-) It's easier to avoid the temptation than to fight it.

Blessings,
Jubilee

Jub. I think we have to be aware of when to turn away from temptation. I mean we do not need to be Lots Wife , looking back and yearning.
Especially when there is so much joy to behold in the healthy way.
I meet with a group for dinner once a month. It is small, and they are becoming very supportive of my choices.
If I bring a dish , they try it.
I have decided to bring the paper goods, as I am the crafty one. It gives me something NON FOOD, to be excited about. I decorate the napkin rings.
Some times I watch a show on the food channel. See my son is in Iraq, and he loves certain shows, so I watch as a connection.
But they don't seem to tempt me. Note, I don't watch the ones where they simply pig out.
