I started MWL on June 12th, 2009. I lost a size in both my pants, from Large to Medium, and tops, from XL to L.

I totally followed MWL for the first month, then i added back tea, as i was sleeping a lot more, and i really needed to work. I have slowly cut my tea intake down and so far am only sleeping a little more. After two months, i tried adding back a feast day once a week, and i went through a grieving period where i thought a lot about the food i couldn't eat anymore. But after about another two months, just when i thought i wouldn't be able to pull out of it, i started keeping a journal in the journal forum, and that quickly and solidly got me back on track.

I have tried and failed too many times to say for sure that i am totally going to be on plan from now on, but i feel really solidly on plan.

I don't seem to have the addiction that so many of us have to the occasional McDougall richer food, where if i eat any at all, i eat all there is, so i am cooking that once a week. I am lucky enough to have good friends who like my cooking that i can give any leftovers to, so i quickly get them out of the house, just in case. But my problem has been liking a little fat, a little sugar in everything i eat. In all the time i have been trying to follow The McDougall Program, i never much liked the food. But i now do, after 5 weeks of eating MWL.

My ticker shows the weight i have lost on MWL, but over all, i have lost 43 pounds from my top weight of 213.5, and most of it i lost by eating low fat vegan food as McDougall recommends.

This group has been such a great support. I spent the first about 20 years of following McDougall totally alone, and it was often very rough going. It is much easier to do something when you are not alone! Thank you to everyone for being there, and best to luck to all of us... may we lose another 1000 pounds or more in the coming year!

On plan and planning on staying that way. Day 10 of my MM and going strong. I won't weigh in until Friday, but I'll post then what the scale says.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Something of a success! Although I haven't been all that great of late - I found myself putting jelly on my bagel to take with me to work this morning. After I got all finished, I threw it in the garbage and took some oatmeal instead.

good for you Mommylut. Sometimes we just have to say no and get rid of it. I know bagels are a big down fall for me.

Hi all! Hope everyone is staying warm. We have snow in the forescast for Friday! Yeah! (do you hear the sarcasm?) :P
I have avoided posting because I have been a little down...no big deal, but here it is: I went to my PCP Monday, all smiles and hoping to get a perfect report, because, after all, I've been McDougalling for a month! Shouldn't I be all better?? Well, my numbers aren't that great, except for blood sugar, which had dropped 30 points and my BP which was pretty good. She was more excited than I was, but grimaced when I said I was not taking a calcium supplement or Vit D.

Anyway, I am back, and I am strong and NOTHING is going to stop me now, not even me!!

So, let's all weigh in tomorrow and see how we are doing. Good, bad, or in between. Let's do this together. I will tally the results like Maread did, and let you know the results on Friday.

Amy :)

Go Amy, Go Amy, rah, rah, rah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kristy- Is this your first week? If so, I will go ahead and post Friday morning; if you have been doing this more than a week and have a weight change to share, I will wait for you before totalling our results.

Mommylut- Good for you for feeding the trash can! That's hard to do, but didn't you feel good?

Toadfood- Thanks for the cheer! You're right.....I AM celebrating my successes.

REMINDER TO EVERYONE: Tomorrow is our first weigh in for November. Join the fun and post your numbers. I will tally them and post results on Friday.

Amy :)

Checking in---On plan and planning to stay that way.

Had a busy day. Took my 4 yr old to the doc today and half way through the visit, I realized she was getting sick, hopfully just a cold.

I took 2 taters and a banana with me and ate on the road. I feel so calm and in a really good mood. Amazing what good food does for you.

My hubby and I are going to make a few recipes that we plan on making for thanksgiving to try them first. They seem like they will be good, but I would really hate to make all this food and have it not taste right, ya know. Especially since we'll be feeding SAD eaters and all. We are just going to cut the recipes in half so there isnt as much. I want to try them and then send the food with hubby to work to eat, as it is not MM food. It is regular plan food, but not high fat reg. plan food.

I am really enjoying doing the MM right now. I started a new 15 day MM thread on sunday, since I botched half of the 10 day one, and so far so good. This was day 4 and I have been good.

I cant forget about the fact that I am still trying to get off the 1.5lb gain from 2 weeks ago. So fingers are crossed that I will have a loss (just from that) this week.

Hi gang! I hope everyone gets good news at weigh-in.

I'm back down below my previous low weight, yay! You can put me down for a net loss of 0.4 pound. Now I just need to hang on to success and see if I can lose weight two weeks in a row.

I'm going to have a busy weekend, so I'm trying to get food prep done now. Last night I went to the grocery store, bought 10 lbs of potatoes and ingredients for the Three Sisters Stew in the October newsletter. I baked the potatoes when I got home last night. Tomorrow is an early day at work, so I'll make the stew then.

I'm on plan and planning to stay that way.

Hi. I lost 3 pounds this week. This is the lowest i have been in a long time. I cut the amount of starch i was eating and left the veggies, fruit, and beans the same.

I've had a busy couple of days but found time to cook a quick supper plus some raw veggies to fill me up.

Amy - I started the 10 day MM 11 days ago, and as of Monday, I had lost 6 pounds all due to that. I joined this thread on November 2nd I think. So I don't know how you want to count it. I will weigh in tomorrow morning at the gym (I don't have a scale at home), and I'll let you know my total total then. Mabe after this week I can get on schedule with you gals and weigh in on Thursday to simplify things

Kirsty
