Does anyone know of a good laundry detergent that is paraben free?
Hopefully one that can be gotten at someplace like Walmart. I can not find out if Cheer Free is.
Thanks

You might check out Method. I would e-mail them and ask. Their products are available at Safeways and Shoppers Drug Marts. They are supposed to be from all natural plant based ingredients.

It never occurred to me that laundry detergents might contain parabens. I read labels for everything I use and don't buy anything that contains them but I never thought about detergent. I just read the bottle of the detergent I have been using and it didn't list parabens BUT it did list "stabilizers" so I am guessing that could be one of the parabens. I did not see a phone number to call with questions, but now I want to know what is in it.

If you find a brand that does not contain any parabens please post that information here.

In a related question I received some bath product gifts for Christmas that I won't use because 1) they are heavily perfumed and I try to keep all fragrances out of my home due to my asthma and 2) they contain parabens. If they did not contain parabens I would just give them away (I doubt my mother would care if they say "World's Greatest Teacher") but I think I should just pitch them due to the parabens. I know people mean well and I wrote my thank you notes but I can't use any of them nor do I want to give them to anyone else. So what do I do with them?

I went ahead and purchased a brand called Seventh Generation from our local health food store. It does not have parabens. It is about $4.00 dollars more than the regular brand I was using. But I have had such a reduction in my headaches and periods since I started making sure I was not using anything with parabens.
Seventh Generation has a web site under their name. I called their main office to make sure their laundry detergent did not contain parabens. They also have a chlorine free bleach for whites.
I am still trying to find the phone numbers for Cheer or Tide to see what exactly is in their perfume free brand.

did you find the phone numbers you wanted? the phone numbers should be on the products, you can look at them at the store to see.
makes Tide and a quote from their website, pc.com, is interesting--
>>Some of the preservatives you may see named on shampoo labels include sodium benzoate, parabens, DMDM hydantoin
and tetrasodium EDTA. In spite of their rather alarming names, these are all safe, tested and approved ingredients.

that's what they say but the whole thing is alarming, isn't it?

I use All detergent, the Free Clear. I don't know if it has parabens but here's the number on the bottle-
1-800-298-2408
Unilever.

let us know what you find out.
