What's Cookin' Today

Below zero with bitter winds here in my corner of Minnesota. Need warm-up food today!

Breakfast: oatmeal with dried cranberries and almond milk

Morning snack: banana

Lunch: throw-together black bean soup in the little crock-pot (beans and potatoes and tomatoes seasoned with garlic, onions, cilantro, chili, and cumin)

Dinner: Deep Bayou Chowder, 12-grain bread on the side.

hmmm... tell us more about that chowder, Jan, please???? your recipes are legendary around these parts, you know!

i have tinnitus that ENT suspects is caused by TMJ .... supposed to eat soft diet for a week. been eating alternately soft fakey chiken noodle soup (also working through the end of a cold) and mashed potatoes w/ a brown gravy. my chiken noodle soup features lots of overcooked veggies, red lentils to add creaminess and some nooch.

might concoct something else today.... maybe a green lentil soup... but your chowder sounds interesting, Jan!

Early morning: banana

Breakfast: oatmeal with raisins and almond milk

Lunch: chili

Dinner: brown rice with tomatoes and zucchini

Dessert: apple slices, sprinkled with a little apple pie seasoning and a pinch of brown sugar

Breakfast:steel-cut oats with one banana, 1/2 cup wild (frozen) blueberries, 1T ground flax seed

Lunch & Dinner: Harvest Bake, consisting of oven-roasted potatoes, carrots, parsnip, onions, garlic and cauliflower, with steamed kale on the side.

Snacks: handful of red grapes, herbal tea, sparkling water
