Hey Nicole:

Just saying boo - good grief you are reading up a storm over here and some really interesting stuff. I think I'll go investigate a few more of these. Loved the NPR - gut biome stuff of course. Doing my own experiments on that front

Hope you are doing well now - loved to read that migraines are disappearing from your lexicon of symptoms - hope it just keeps getting better and better and better :)

I loved the video. Brene Brown is one of my heroes. She has her TED talks on You Tube. I also love her books. This video will reach people in a whole new way. If I had little kids I would show it to them as a teaching tool. Thanks for the link.

Oh, lifeisgreat, I had never heard of Bene Brown before you mentioned her here. I'm going to look into her TED talks.

That video is wonderful, isn't it? Everyone needs a good bear friend like that! :)

HI Leslie!

Yes, I was still crazy busy, kind of am now too, I guess, only now that holidays are past it is getting better, LOL. My Dad is pretty good, although no surgery has worked yet - he had two more attempts this month.

Wow. That's a high percentage. It's putting me in mind of a journal? a magazine piece on the internet? that you may have recommended about how this woman finally gave in to trying it. . .hope she's still doing okay. And glad you don't need it!!

Hi NIcole -

Just dropping in to say howdy. I hope your crazy busy is all good and that your health is optimum so you can keep up with the pace!

Thanks for dropping by to see me too - or my journal that is! cool that the alignment issues are interesting you too. This has actually been on my mind for a very long time. My Great Grandfather was one of the first Osteopathic doctors. He graduated from Northwestern University and moved to Oklahoma when Statehood was declared there.

Sadly, he died in the big Spanish flu epidemic of 1918 and the family migrated here to the Bay Area where the oldest son had come after college.Still, my Grandmother knew a lot of his methods from assisting him on rounds. I think she figured out on her own how to put her "arthritis" ( which I think was actually fibro) into remission after giving up on the arthritis specialists and their drugs early on in her diagnosis.

I have had a Physical Therapist tell me I need cranial adjustment and that might help. But she was not forth coming on how to have this done or how it might be affecting me now. Other than saying I would need to see a specialist for an evaluation and adjustment - so that is still a big mystery to me.

Anyway, I want to see an osteopath for this some day. There is a school up near Dr. McDougall - he actually lectures there. Hopefully when my financial picture is a bit better I will be able to afford a visit and consultation!

HI Michelle!

Yes, I have been crazy busy. :-D I started a small pet portrait painting business and it really took off. Before Christmas I was painting 7 days a week, and I even have commissions lined up for this month, which is awesome! But quite a transition, from not workin to working full time-plus. Sadly, my forum time was scarce.

I have been mostly OK. I had a couple one-to-three day minor flare ups, and considering the workload and the stress I was under, that is pretty good. (I also observed how these were in time with either ovulation or menstruation, solidifying my hormone-related theory for myself.)

Fought off several colds that everyone else but me had until, as I was fighting one stomach bug off, I went to my friend's house for New Years and stayed up tooo late, and turns out they had JUST gotten over a stomach bug as well, so me and DH both got it. Ew, it was intense!!! Relatively short lived, though.

So interesting to hear about your Osteopath Great Grandfather! Osteopathy is fascinating to me, as is CranioSacral therapy, Feldenkrais, Hanna Somatics and bodywork in general. I feel there is something to all of that as well, and I do like to find out more ways to improve health and life-quality.

Now I want to go to Santa Rosa and consult with an osteopathic MD! Or DO, I guess it is. Let's go!!!

xoxo

Nicole

This is a very cool podcast, and a very cool book.

I wish I had more time/energy to talk about all the reasons why right now. Although the title can appear to be saying "give up, and just accept the fact that you are sick" I think it shows a great way to let go of attachments to outcomes of dietary and other trials of treatments, while still attending to the factual results of those trials. In other words, it's helpful
