Hi everybody,

I have been away for several weeks trying to do things (dieting) my way instead of listening to the Lord and being obedient to Him. I like to see quick results so I went on a liquid diet. We are planning a trip to Orlando next month and I was searching for a quick way to lose about 20lbs. Well, I got so weak and tired that I couldn't do very much at all. So last night I ate some food and felt better.

So anyway, I am back and looking forward to getting back in touch with you all.

Cathy

Welcome back catmatt. I tried a liquid diet once years ago and quit it because I went around with a horrible headache the whole time. Glad you came back from "the dark side"! Hopefully eating the healthy foods God designed for us will get you feeling better -- and help you drop some extra pounds too.

Welcome back catmatt - I'm soooo glad to see you here again. You were missed by me, and I'm sure by everyone else.

Be good to yourself and eat those starches, fruits, and veggies, OK?

Hugs to you :)

Oh well.
Good luck with the diet shuffle.

Hoo, boy. A liquid diet--been there, done it! It was the Eades Protein Power diet IIRC. Only lasted on it a few days, felt like "death warmed over" the entire time. Seriously, I have never felt worse in my entire life, which is saying something.

Seems like prophetic words from f1jim about the Atkins, too. But some ppl do come back to McDougall eventually--guess they gotta get their fill of misery first. I know I've had mine!

No, it wasn't prophetic. Cattmatt posted her plans on Wed May 19, 2010 3:24 pm. Everyone responded for two days including F1Jim at 1 pm on May 20. The "prophetic" post came 8 hours after his comments to her on the other thread at 9pm on the 20th.

It wasn't prophecy, it was sarcasm!

And you're right, FreeSpirit, that some of us have to try the options before we can fully commit to McDougalling. Sounds like your experience with the liquid program proved itself to you pretty quickly. "Death warmed over" would certainly be conclusive!

I trust that Cattmatt will be back and I hope we can welcome her kindly. As you said, we've all had our share of trying the other diet programs that are pushed all around us. I'm just so thankful for Dr. McDougall's wonderful program that has brought some diet sanity to so many of us and am always happy when someone else "finds" their way to these principles, whatever route it takes them to get here.

Cattmatt, wherever you are, you're welcome back anytime!

The very sad part of all this is the wasted months and years as people bounce from diet to diet looking for the fast, easy way to have the lbs roll off! It doesn't work that way. Eating healthy is steady and sound. You will arrive at a proper weight for your size and it will mean so much more than just a quick weight loss. By the time many figure this out they will have endangered their health and wasted more pages on the calendar. The truth is the truth.

LOL Letha...and so true what f1jim said. I am certainly one who has endangered their health and wasted time. But at least I am here now. :)

Welcome back! We all step aside at times, but the point is to return. Stronger.
Sad part if how much pressure there is to try "other" ways.
I was at a service project at our Church Saturday. There was another woman there, who had started a liquid diet at about the same time I started McDougall. Now, we both have the same HMO. A big one, Kaiser Permenante. KP under wrote her program.
They do not help with Mc D although my Dr. did recommend it.
Any way , I was talking to her. The liquid diet was for 4 mo. To "jumpstart" her.
So now, she is just trying to "Be careful"
I had brought my own food, knowing everything would have oil.
She was eating every thing, including tons of butter on a roll.
I am not faulting her. It just showed how empty these programs are. They do not teach real life change. As I said it is sad.
I am grateful I found McD.
