I want to begin to move. I have a treadmill but I feel that it is too hard on my joints at this weight. what do you think about the Stamina 1205 Precision Rowing machine? would this be too difficult for a beginner who needs some cardio to strengthen myself?

Hi bookpondsky,

First, thanks for coming by and all support to you for beginning to move. Being fit, trimmer, and energetic are so worth the effort!

First, it would no doubt be prudent to check with your health care provider regarding your current health level for a baseline safe structure to your exercise plan. With that disclaimer in place, :D , I always think it's funny how we aren't told to check with our doctor before we become innactive!

You are onto something here with a non-impact technique to get you started. If you are able to walk, that is also an excellent way to get your system started on the fit path. Remembering that it is diet that allows you to lose weight, an plan for activity will increase your vitality, improve your health, and shape and condition your body as you lost weight.

Be sure to let me know how things work on the rower! I assume you have one at home?

Lani

Thanks for the reply, Lani. I was going to purchase the rower, but I went with an exercise bike instead. I have been walking, on and off, but seem to have some kind of bursitis in my hip which sends burning pain to my groin area, which really has stopped me from walking at all. I am hoping the bike, and some Advil will calm it down!

Bookpondsky,

Wow, you have taken ACTION and that's impressive. Nice!

As the weight comes off, your hips will feel better.

Do you know about Burst Training? I use my stationary bike for same and for lots of reasons, it's an amazing way to improve your fitness, insulin sensitivity, boost metabolic rate, and not take a whole lot of time. You just have to work your way slowly up if you've had a layoff from exercise - promise!

I spell it all out in my FREE Fitness Breakthrough Kit which you can download here:

Onward! Great start!

Hi,

I think there's nothing wrong in trying. Maybe you should start and check out for yourself if it would suit you. If in your first few tries you'll have a hard time then lessen the amount or heaviness of the exercise first then by the time you achieved the best level of exercise that suits you, you can now continue with the workout and simply increase the due when you think you can be able to do it. :)

Well, I should have the bike by next week. I am looking forward to setting it up and watching my favorite TV show while I peddle along!
Thanks for your help and wish me luck!
