Anyone take a chi running class? There is a certified instructor here and I am considering taking one of her workshops - it's a little pricey, but I have read the book and am really lost on how to get started. Thinking maybe the couple hour workshop would help. Anyone tried this?

Highly recommend it. Having an instructor watch and correct you is very valuable. And its fun to watch someone do Chirunning at full speed! I took the full day of intro and advanced sessions and I think its has been one of the most effective group lessons I have ever completed. Get the DVD as well so you can watch DD and others run, especially helpful to me is where DD is running in 4 different "gears" side by side on split screens. I found it very difficult to get it from the books alone, in fact I think the classes and DVD would probably suffice. However I like to open the books every now and then and reread stuff casually as reminders. If you want to do race training I found the marathon training very helpful. In fact it is helpful if not doing training for a race, since its a "program" they outline daily and weekly runs. In the book he leaves it to you to design your own program.

P.S. dont forget to get the metronome and use it all the time!

Thanks, Mober! I have a metronome app on my phone that I have been using - brings back some piano lesson memories! I will give it a try - and will look into getting the DVD. Anxious to see if this will work. I have always suffered from horrid shin splints when I try to run - too many years of long distance cycling!

I am sure you will get it ... not that I have all the way. But much like McDougalling, there's always something to learn and accomplish and work on.

Remember to relax your lower legs, esp if prone to shinsplints. Even the Chirunning auther admits to dorsiflexing, in fact he's doing it on the front of his book cover! I believe thats a culprit in shinsplints sometimes as is tieing laces too tight I heard. I was lucky and never had them, I battled Plantar Fasciitis and ITB inflammation when I decided to try ChiR.

Good luck!
