Yes, yes, you are. Dr. McDougall could have been sitting across from me and giving me this lecture as written in his latest article, "Fat Vegans". What's sad is I know his program inside and out - I've read all the books and newsletters, watched most of the DVDs, and even attended the live-in program. Still, due to high stress in this past year, I allowed unhealthy options back into my diet - some meat analogs, Earth Balance, a little oil, nuts, and too much sugary simple (processed) food. These did not replace the healthy grains and vegetables I still eat, but were in addition to them.

Riding the wave of motivation to change with the new year, however, I'll be cleaning it back up around here. I need to find alternatives to finding comfort in "junk food" because my stress is not going away magically. More exercise should help, something I'm already incorporating again.

Anybody else recommiting to following the program properly?

I recommitted myself to following this plan on November 3rd of this year, so will continue to "ride the wave" into the new year!

Dr. McD always writes such inspirational arcticles at the end of the year, it really helps the motivation!!

Yes, I'm getting better. I've gotten involved with processed foods. I health them up with veggies but it's still something processed.

Unfortuantely we need to look for ways to get rid of the stress and deal with it without it affecting how we care for ourselves. We will always have stress.

Just re-committed on another link here to eat only 5 healthy foods for the month of January. Just got back from the grocery and I'm all ready to start first thing in the morning. Going to do: potatoes, tomatoes, corn, beans, green leafy stuff like lettuce. Anyone want to join me??? The fun starts tomorrow.

Hi bigdoglover,
I like your 5 food combo. I’ve been trying to do 5 foods for the past few days. Oats, blueberries, potatoes, carrots, & hominy. But I got bored after just a couple days so I’m back to MWL again. I might try to do 5 foods again down the road with a different combo. After you do your five foods for a month the regular McDougall plan will seem decadent. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hi Chile,
I just replied to Green Jeanne's post about the DVD. So will be short...it was what I needed and I started on The Maximum Weight Loss Program" 3 days ago. It would be good if my T.V. was powered by my treadmill.

Wish I'd read this newsletter before I gobbled up all the vegan hot dogs, cupcakes, and other goodies on our two-week East Coast trip :P But we're spoiled living in San Francisco, so we indulged in vegan treats wherever we could find them in the Pittsburgh, DC, and Baltimore areas...

Hi Chile,
I'm happy to report that I have been a good little McDougaller this week. It feels good to be back in the saddle. Let's all ride together!
