The last 4 lbs

Postby mountain » Fri Jan 13, 2012 9:56 am

I am sooo happy after stepping on our scale this morning (weighing only every Friday morning) and found that I am down 4 lbs and now......tatatata.....I am 140.6 lbs (5'9") and my BMI is 20.7.
After New Years SO and I started doing the MWL and he lost a little more than 4 lbs but his BMI is still 28.9...overweight. But...he is also very muscular so we think if he loses another 10 lbs he will be perfect, the little belly will be gone too. And by that time, we hope that his BP, which is still too high (135/90) will be down too.
Not too shabby for two people past teenage age ...hm....okay way past teenage age....I am 56 and he is 62 years old.
And we weren't hungry at all.....even had our glas of wine in the evening!
Now I have to watch that I don't get too skinny.....might have to eat some nuts while SO isn't watching
It is great to know that the MWL helps even if one is down to almost ideal weight....it came off so easy!

I don't believe it but I am still dropping weight, now down to 138.5. I am really curious what the scale will say tomorrow morning.....Friday is weighday :D
I thought I am done at 140 lbs but I guess not. And I snacked on a couple of nuts! Don't want to go down to far!
But I added strengthtraining to my workouts (my daughter who is a kinesiologist) showed me some killer exercises :D which I am doing regularly and have already noticed tremendous improvement in my corestrength and overall.

Yeah, I kept going past my original goal. :) Keep in mind that the most health benefits accrue at the lower end of the BMI scale, so if you get down to 18.5 or 19 that's great! You're good where you are of course, too. :)

Hey, ETeSelle, mind sharing about 'the most health benefits accrue at the lower end of the BMI scale' ? What do we have to look forward to as we venture into that area that we may be missing just having a 'normal' BMI ?

137.9....so I am still going down. And I noticed I still have a bit of a belly flap which I wouldn't mind losing :D
So I keep working out and skipping the nuts for now :)

This is one of those things that Jeff, Dr. Esselstyn, etc. tell us. It's no secret--thinner people are healthier and live longer. Rats fed a calorie restricted diet live up to twice as long as those fed ad libitum, and people are the same. We don't count calories here, but by eating food low on the calorie density scale but high in nutrient density, we ARE restricting calorie density (those of us on MWL at least).

So you're the most likely to avoid heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and on and on if you are in the lower end of "normal" (18.5-21 BMI). :)
