Is Wheat Fattening ?

Postby Rashed » Thu Mar 11, 2010 3:52 pm

I read number of medical research papers that says wheat can develop intolerance syndrome which can result in gaining weight rather than losing weight ?
Appreciate comments from the experts here

Rashed,

Wheat products are higher in calories than other starches. Also the wheat has been processed more than say pearled barley or baked potatoes. I think these reasons are why wheat products are not included in the Maximum Weight loss version of the diet. Bread usually has a lot of salt in it too. But if weight is not a key issue, then whole wheat products are OK on the general McDougall plan.

Sorry for taking so long to respond.
