I guess LauraA started this, and I commend her. If not, whomever or is it whoever :?:I commend them! I may start my journal. I find myself spending too much time on the board, if I'm not careful. But it does inspire and motivate me. I am so thankful to Dr. McDougall for this website and all that participate. :-D

Oh, I didn't start the journals, and it has taken me three tries to even get my own going. I would start one, and then forget to use it. I do find it helpful though, and it is wonderful to read the journals of others. Good luck to you - we'll be waiting to hear the "before" and "after" bloodwork! Take care, LauraA

The Results Are In

Well, the results are in. When I started this thread, I told you that my cholesterol was 142 a couple of weeks ago and my triglycerides were fairly low. I checked my records and a couple of weeks ago my cholesterol was 148. Below are my most recent results of blood work. I knew I had been cheating and this is the reason I started on the Free Program.

08-13-2009 09-10-2009

Cholesterol – 142 148
HDL - 49 52
LDL - 72 72
Triglycerides 107 122

I am pleased and happy about a portion of the results. I lost 5.4 lbs. :-D and went from 38” to 37” :-D in my waist. I am disappointed in the blood work and plan to continue on with the plan. I would like to maintain my cholesterol below 150 and get my weight down to 175 – 179 range.
I had my blood work done on the morning of day 1 and had blood work done again the morning after 14 days on the program. Also, are the menus each day. I went without the diet sodas that I have been in a habit of drinking. I drank purified water, only. The results are below. The first number is day 1 and the second number is after 14 days. I copied and pasted from word and it didn't come out right.

Hi Lindas,
I didn't go by a book but went to the Home Page...scroll down left side to Free Program...Regain Your Lost Health and Appearance...click on this...then scroll down the right side to the bottom...Mealplan: and you can choose a day which has the menu and recipes. I did not follow each day as it was set up but my wife picked out various recipes and I ate the ones she cooked. Many of the recipes had too many servings...but if we liked them, we ate them till we finished them. We liked some better than others. Our taste buds were not suited for the stuffed peppers but we ate some of them. Bev, my wife, is still cooking some of the ones we didn't get around to. The sauerkraut is something that I had a craving for  during the 12 days and I didn't think it would hurt. :)

Go for it!

Lindas, it works but I expected more than I should have expected. My cholesterol was pretty good when I started 164. I expected it to go down to below 150. I did lose 5 lbs and 1" in waist size 38" to 37". Best wishes :-D

12 day program

Can you clarify if the MWL program is the 12 day online program. It has soy milk, tofu and things that are in some places not allowed on the MWL program. Is there a new and improved version online that is different from the book version?

Helen, sorry I haven't responded earlier  but just saw your post today. I haven't been to active, lately. You can't go wrong with the MWL program in the book or the 12 day program you can find on the home page. I believe the one from the home page is probably the latest recommendations.

The "free" program on the McDougall web site is the regular one, the one that's detailed in the 12 Day book. Letha describes the MWLP in detail in this forum post of hers:
