I experienced a lot of negativity over at the ppk in the past, hence the suggestion that we start our own Month of Healthy Food MOHFO

I've never had any problems and a lot of them know I'm a McDougaller. I'm a pretty mild poster, though. I don't say very much.

Can I just say firstly that my profain and derogatory remark about Isa De Moskowitz' entourage was referring specifically to those who I perceived to be in her "inner circle", and was not referring to the (albeit relatively few) upstanding members of her punk forum. Some of whom I realise may also be members of this forum. I don't regret anything about that comment, but I've edited the profainity at the request of the moderators.

Vgnwitch, I hope you'll appreciate that there's a vast difference between a vegan advocate who is neutral on health advocacy and a vegan advocate who (along with her entourage) consistently tries to trash the living doo out of every vegan health advocate on the planet.

Regarding the supposed HH plagiarism, I've actually analysed the ingredients lists (yes that's right, I had a window in my schedule) and didn't find them at all similar. But that really is not what this hijacked portion of the thread is about. This portion of the thread is about Isa De Moskowitz's financial interest in vegan junk food and the apparent efforts of her and her entourage to trash anyone or any group who interferes with that interest. (see also Healthyvegan's comment just now).

I would really appreciate it if from hereon, people could stay on post-hijack topic and not steer this thread even further away from Vegpedlr's original message.

Cheers

I will ignore the question of who hijacked this thread and why, in the interest of getting back on topic...

I'm planning to blog about:

- Starch staples: How I prepare basics including oats, rice, beans, and potatoes

- My experience volunteering with organizations that provide free vegan food: Food Not Bombs, The Free Farm, and The Free Farm Stand

- Various McDougall-friendly recipes, with photos. Will be good to dust off my camera as I haven't used it much since giving up on my pro photography business last month. (Though I was not a specialist in food photography, so don't expect stellar results!)

What are the rest of you participants planning to write about? Or keep it a surprise :-)

You said it perfectly, funcrunch.

I am planning to focus on feeding a family on a small, though not tiny, budget and staying with no-oil added recipes--McDougall all the way.

Nothing exciting, just what I think I know a little bit about. I'm looking forward to reading your blog. :D I am interested in hearing about your volunteer experience and thoughts about it.

funcrunch, I looked around at the RSS feed from last year's MOFO and saw a lot of very original themes that people had for their blogs. I don't think I could begin to come up with something that original.

I signed up for the MOFO, but I do really like this idea of having a month of HEALTHY food. We wouldn't have any shortage of ideas to blog about, would we?

There is a "Healthy / Whole Foods" category, which is what I signed up for, but of course everyone's idea of what that means is different. Any recipes I post for this project will be McDougall-compliant (regular program, not MWL) and honey-free in deference to strict ethical vegans. But when I eat at my volunteer shifts and out with friends I often have food that contains oil as I'm not 100% strict on that outside the home.

For crying out loud, give it a rest. The only person trashing anyone around here is you. Just lay off.

This is very exciting. I signed up my blog, PlantBasedChefs.com and plan on blogging the way I always have, probably taking more pics of our McDougall friendly food and sharing recipes.

I think it's wonderful we McDougallers are joining in this year. We should show everyone how great our food is... plus we get the health benefits.

I'm ready to rock and roll...

Beth :)

Awesome!
I was hoping we could get a little blog ring going here. I wanted to join up with Vegan Mofo because it's already got some momentum, and our WOE can definitely fit in. And while there is a "healthy" category for the blog roll, that surely means different things to different people. However, we can define it however we want. It appears that many (most?) of the post-punkers are not concerned about health in the way that we are, but who cares? These are our blogs, for us by us. By linking up here, we can share ideas about how to make food that saves animals, lessens environmental impact, improves health, and is tasty. Best of all, we can have fun doing it. Brilliant!

Moral of the story:
Don't worry about Isa and the post-punkers. They got their thang, we got our thang. We do share a predilection for plants.

My blog's theme:
"Training Table Traditions"
How traditional diets can benefit modern athletes.
Recipes inspired by traditional athletes like the Kenyans, Tarahumara, Okinawans as well as modern day athletes. We'll see if I can make it last for 20 posts with enough recipes and a few pictures! (I should also find my camera and learn how to take a few pictures...)

I think thats an excellent idea!! How do we make this work? I was thinking of doing a month of McDougall foods anyway. All recipes from his books. Not sure about calling it vegan, but I really like the McDougall MOFO!!

Dont't worry about the Post Punk Kitchen!

Yeah, it's their vegan Mofo, but we can hijack it for our own purposes. Just sign up under the healthy/whole foods flag and post your links here. Then we with a McDougall bent can support each other while simultaneously supporting a larger vegan movement.

Don't worry abut Isa!
Don't worry about Lindsay!
Don't worry about punk rock!
(full disclosure: I have been punk, straight edge)

Just have fun with it! If you already blog, run with it. Create a theme, or not, as you like. If you don't blog, but you're reading this, why not get started?

Who knows? Maybe we can overrun them with our healthy lifestyle, like the trolls' ultimate revenge!

Okay.

1. What is a post punk?
2. Can I use my existing blog?
3. What and how to I link it with the PPK site?
4. Can they hijack my blog?
5. Im not worried about Linsay, its the "others" (Lost fan here).
6. How do I find other McDougaller's on there?
7. Am I doomed if I post a McDougall recipe with honey? Or should I replace it with agave even if I dont actually use it?

Yep, kind of worried about ruffling feathers in the vegan community as I dont call myself vegan, dietary or otherwise.

TIA
